Exposure Therapy
Everything is hard until you've done it. Everything is scary until you get used to it.
Think back to learning math, english, a new video game, driving the first time, starting high school, or taking the bus alone the first time.
It was hard, it was scary. But the more time you spent doing the activity, the easier (and more boring) the activity got.
Exercise
Look for the place between what is easy for you socially and what causes fear. Then take a small step, a small action, in the direction of being more social.
Example: I'm terrified to talk to my roommates. I'm anxious being in the same room as them. I'm uncomfortable seeing or passing them in the hall. But I'm calm in my own room.
-> So, when I know they are in the living room or hall, I leave my room and go outside for a min and then come back in. Passing them 1-2x.
-> After doing that many times, I take another step forward. I go to the kitchen when they are there and drink a glass of water.
-> After doing that many times, I take another step forward. I go to the kitchen and ask what they are eating. I make a simple comment like "that sounds good". Then I drink my water and go back to my room.
